LA Explorers Club: Garden of Eden to the Devil's Gate
*We have sold out this ride!  Hope to see you next time!*

The Los Angeles Explorers Club returns with a very special urban bicycle ride- The Garden of Eden to the Devils Gate, and one of our favorite rides yet.

Joining us as our special guest is Thomas, the amazing LA story teller best known for his web series, Tom Explores LA.  Together, we will share the story of the Arroyo Seco, Los Angeles' beloved water oasis, and pedal from the once lush and wild LA River confluence to the Devils Gate Dam that holds back its flow.  It was a time when water was abundant, population was booming, and wealthy locals were creating retreats that would become later become city landmarks.  This moderate uphill ride is 16 miles covering all terrains- bike path, river path, NELA streets, and even a little dirt trail.  A blend of both quiet nature and urban riding, we will take you back in time prior to the creation of the 110 freeway, uncovering hidden treasures, showing new cycling routes and exposing some of LA's beautiful past.

12-1:30pm- Riders gather at Barbara's at the Brewery, for New Belgium beers, light eats if you choose and some mingle time.

1:30pm- We'll depart and ride North. Stops include the LA River, Lummis House, Sycamore Grove Park, Busch Gardens, and Devils Gate Dam.

5pm- Ride ends in Old Town Pasadena at Der Wolfskopf for more beers + bites, laughs, and good 'ol fun.

Things to consider before registering:
*You must have a bicycle in good working order.  Gears are recommended.  Cruisers are not recommended.
*No beginning cyclists please.  Moderate ride at a medium pace. 5 stops along the way (a few with water and bathrooms).
*Tires should be inflated to the maximum PSI, as the risk of flats on this ride is high.
*Must be 21 years or older.
*Be sure to pack water and your I.D.
