Introduction to Programming for Non-Programmers
If you are interested in learning how to program, we're offering an "Introduction to Programming for Non-Programmers" class next week. The class starts on Monday evening and runs for five days, one hour per session. The class is open to adults and kids, but you have to be old enough to be starting 5th grade in the fall. The class is being taught using Python, an open source language that is simple enough for kids, but so powerful that scientists use it to control sophisticated instrumentation.

The class is being taught by David Bacum, who says he'll teach you how to think like a programmer. While the course is being taught in Python, the concepts are applicable to other modern programming languages. Look for a registration link tomorrow (Thursday).

The class will be one hour each evening for five days.  The class will start on Monday, August 3rd at 6PM and continue on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.  Since Friday will be "First Friday" in Railroad Square, and parking will be impossible, the final class will take place on Saturday afternoon at 1PM.

You can bring your own laptop for the class.  We have a few loaner computers available for use in class.  We'll get Python loaded on everyone's computer during the first class session.

We're sorry for the short notice, but this will be an excellent class, and it's worth changing a few plans to be able to participate. While the class is open to children and adults, participants under 18 will require the permission of their parents.  Participants 15 or younger must be accompanied by a parent.
