Blake Upper School Fall Play - The Government Inspector
7:30pm MPAC, Hopkins Campus
When the locals in a small town in Russia learn that an undercover government inspector is coming for a surprise visit, an unfortunate case of mistaken identity sends the village spiraling into a world of panic and greed. Witty, smart and wildly satirical, The Government Inspector exposes the corruption of a provincial town with biting hilarity. This spirited adaptation is by famed playwright and screenwriter (and frequent Guthrie collaborator) Jeffrey Hatcher.
"I must concede that Jeffrey Hatcher's retooling of The Government Inspector, is a sharp and witty venture that keeps one's attention through to the end."
--Dennis Kemption for Oeuvre Magazine
"... a comedy of galumphing, harrumphing hilarity. One part farce, one part slapstick, with a dash of musical theater, this naughty, frothy play is wholly entertaining... [A] clever, fearless script... [The] characters feel contemporary in a show where official ignorance and incompetence are compounded by corruption and hubris." -- The Minneapolis Star-Tribune
Join in the side-splitting fun on Thursday Nov. 17th, Friday Nov. 18th, and Saturday Nov. 19th at 7:30 p.m. in the MacMillan Performing Arts Center on the Hopkins Campus.
Due to mature themes this play is not suitable for younger children.
