Sound Minds Music Festival
New York City's vibrant musical culture is as rich and varied as it's ever been. It's also become uncompromisingly crowded and competitive. In a city of over eight million people, it's untenable that there are only a handful of annual festivals for creative music and jazz. Brooklyn-based musicians Josh Sinton and Adam Hopkins decided to remedy this situation. On August 16th they are teaming up with Threes Brewing to present some of their favorite music and musicians at the first Sound Minds Music Festival!
SIX Bands will begin playing at 7 pm. Occupying both the intimate Tiny Montgomery space as well as the large main bar space, they will represent a range of dynamic and creative responses to modern-day life. Performer will include:
7 pm - Miss Elie Sorbsel featuring Emilie Lesbros - Avant vocal chanteuse.
8 pm - Bizingas Plays the Blues featuring Brian Drye, Kirk Knuffke, Jonathan Goldberger plus special guests Hank Roberts and Tom Rainey - Chamber Folk Porch Blues.
9 pm - Dustin Carlson's Air Ceremony featuring DC, Mike Baggetta, Danny Gouker, Kate Gentile and Josh Sinton - "Throw yourself, lose your balance, if you fall, that is a good thing."
10 pm - The Kate Gentile Quartet featuring KG, Jeremy Viner, Adam Hopkins and Matt Mitchell - A new book of often-dense compositions PLUS a specially composed long-form piece just for the occasion!
11 pm - FOLKLORDS featuring Jason Ajemian, Peter Hanson, Nathaniel Morgan, Owen Stewart-Robertson and Jason Nazary. Psychedelic Appalachian free-form punk expanding on the creative music tradition through a social/cultural lens of now.
12 am - Matt Bauder's Hearing Things featuring Matt Bauder, Jp Schlegelmilch and Vinnie Sperrazza - Egyptian surf rock: Prudes, ghosts and tittyshakers; the hustlers and sweet- talkers alike, all will join hands and sway to this brand new beat.
Tickets are $30 which includes all of the music as well as any two 1/2-pints of Threes' unique and delicious beers!
