Nathan McEuen, Matt Cartsonis, Kevin Schramm and Tom Rhodes in Concert
Nathan McEuen, Matt Cartsonis, Kevin Schramm, and Tom Rhodes come together to perform a very special show in Tucson's Abounding Grace Sanctuary.
Nathan McEuen grew up in the bluegrass and folk rock scene around his Grammy Award winning father, John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and with mentors like Johhny Cash, Vassar Clements, Steve Martin, and Dolly Parton, and experiences opening for and working with Dave Crosby and Graham Nash, Kenny Loggins, John Denver, Chris Hillman, Willie Nelson, Dave Mason, and many more. But Nathan has blazed his own trail, often being compared to the likes of Nickel Creek, Jack Johnson, and the David Grisman Quintet. Pulling from all of his past experiences, Nathan has an ability to write original songs and craft his vocals around tunes both old and new, making him sound familiar yet unique.
Matt Cartsonis is a talented mandolin and mandola player and vocalist. He has performed nationally with Warren Zevon (for 6 years), Jennifer Warnes, The Austin Lounge Lizards, Glenn Campbell, and Bryndle. Matt performed with his old friend, John McEuen, at the Vail Theatre of the Arts in 2010, and Nathan enjoys performing with "Uncle Matt" whenever he gets an opportunity. Matt always adds a lighthearted and fun air to every show.
Nathan and Matt will be joined by Tucson's own Kevin Schramm and Tom Rhodes, Kevin and Tom are long time members of the Last Call Girls and have recently been performing as a duo called the Kevin Schramm Experience. Kevin who was the accordion player for the Mollys, has been inducted into the Tucson Musicians Museum. He accompanied Nathan McEuen and Scott Gates during LAVA's fall 2010 series at Abounding Grace Sanctuary, and he and Nathan performed together again, opening for Gary Morris at the Vail Theatre of the Arts in January of 2011. In addition to playing with the Last Call Girls, Tom also plays fiddle for one of Tucson's longest running bands, The Titan Valley Warheads.
Nathan McEuen, Matt Cartsonis, Kevin Schramm, and Tom Rhodes will perform at Abounding Grace Sanctuary, 2450 S. Kolb, just north of Golf Links on the west side of Kolb, from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Advance tickets are $15. If not sold out, admission is $20 cash at the door.
