The Bemidji Symphony Orchestra presents "American Jazz"
The Bemidji Symphony Orchestra opens its 73rd season "Made in America" with "American Jazz." The BSO is delighted to feature pianist Jacob Adams on Gershwin's "Concerto in F." Also on the program is William Grant Still's "Afro-America Symphony." Although this is not a well-known work, it will sound familiar because of its use of both Negro spiritual and jazz elements. Composer Libby Larsen is a recognized sound and face to Bemidji, having been the commissioned artist for "Sacred Vows" that celebrated BSO's 70th Anniversary. The Orchestra will be playing Larsen's "Overture for the End of a Century."
