We are celebrating the 5th Annual Legacy Film Festival on Aging: 8 separate programs of films during the three days event, September 18-20, 2015, at the New People Cinema, 1746 Post St, in Japan Town, San Francisco. We are showcasing little-known, independent short films, documentaries and feature length narrative stories made in the USA, as well as China, Iceland, Ireland, Israel. As always, there will be a post-screening Q&A for each program. The Opening Night program begins at 5:30 pm, with several amusing short subjects and one touching and funny documentary film, The Age of Love, about 70-90-year-olds taking part in a speed-dating event. The films' themes are about Love, Sex, Generations, Memory:The Soul; Friendships, Creativity, Empowerment.
Someone complained to me about aging: "Who said these are supposed to be our golden years?" Yes, there are difficult losses of friends and spouses, physical abilities, memory, but you will experience thought-provoking, poignant and humorous films about people who have triumphed over these challenges.
One of the viewers answered the post-screening evaluation by stating: The festival allows younger people to see their potential in older years and older people to appreciate their journey in later life.
The Silver Images Film Festival emphasizes that aging can be a great adventure. So come and see for yourselves!
