Tomas Sedlacek: Who Does an Economy Serve?
Tomas Sedlacek argues a simple proposition: Economics is ultimately about good and evil. It's touted as a science, a value-free mathematical inquiry, but it's actually a cultural phenomenon woven out of history, myth, religion, and ethics. So, to grasp the beliefs underlying economics, Sedlacek, author of The Economics of Good and Evil, explores economic thinking over the millennia, asking meta-economic questions: What is the meaning and the point of economics? Can we do ethically all that we can do technically? Does it pay to be good? Presented by the Town Hall Center for Civic Life with Elliott Bay Book Company. Series media sponsorship provided by PubliCola. Series supported by The Boeing Company Charitable Trust and the RealNetworks Foundation.
