BIRTH (Player's Theatre, NY)

The Players Theatre
New York, NY

After collecting more than 100 birth stories, playwright Karen Brody created BIRTH, stories about the experience of giving birth in America today.  Understanding the need for women to hear these stories, Ms. Brody began "Birth On Labor Day" (BOLD) a global movement to raise awareness about maternity issues and make childbirth mother-friendly. Proceeds of these shows will benefit the NYC chapter of the American College of Nurse Midwives, an organization dedicated to improving the health of women.

In 2006, the play was produced more than 40 times in over 20 locations in the world over Labor Day weekend and through the month of September. 2007 brings more productions.  Please visit http://www.birthonlaborday.com/ for more information about the movement and www.nycmidwives.org for more information about midwives in New York.
