Juana & Tenth Muse Presents Fundraiser at the LGBT Center
Dear Friends,
Join us at a very special fundraising dinner benefiting Tenth Muse Presents' Juana.
Juana is an opera in development about the life of Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, the first great poet of the Americas. Sor Juana was a brilliant Mexican nun who went before the Spanish Inquisition because of her feminist writings and love poetry to another woman.
We are proud to support this groundbreaking work by Composer/Co-Librettist, Carla Lucero and Author/Co-Librettist, Alicia Gaspar de Alba. Juana is directed by Tracy Ward and produced by Valentin Aguirre.
There will be two staged performances of the work in progress on October 12 & 13 at Theater Artaud. Your contributions will help make this extraordinary opera a reality.
Come enjoy genuine Latin-American cuisine lovingly prepared by expert Latina cooks. There will be appetizers and cocktails served from 6:30 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. followed by a sit-down candlelight dinner with wine served at 7:30 p.m.
You will be treated to a sneak preview of the opera as well as an opportunity to meet and greet the creators and cast members.
There will also be great items to bid on in the silent auction.
Don't miss this one-of-a-kind event supporting the work of our very own Latina opera composer, Carla Lucero.
We ask for a generous donation of $50.00 per person.
Space is limited. RSVP by: Friday, August 17.
