OneWorld Now! is honored to announce that Washington State Senator Cyrus Habib will be the keynote speaker at our Global Leader Breakfast on September 29th, 2015.
About the Senator: Senator Cyrus Habib is a member of the Washington State Senate. In 2012, Habib was elected to serve in the Washington State House of Representatives, making him the first and only Iranian American to be elected to state office in the United States. A three-time cancer survivor, he lost his eyesight and became fully blind at age eight. Habib is a Rhodes Scholar, a Truman Scholar, and a Soros Fellow. He received his B.A. from Columbia University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. Habib obtained a Master of Letters in English Literature from Oxford University followed by his Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School. Habib returned to Washington State, and began practicing law at Perkins Coie in Seattle, where he advised technology startups, and leads the firm's civic and community initiatives. Since 2013, Habib has been Professor and Distinguished Lawmaker in Residence at the Seattle University School of Law, teaching upper-level courses and conducting research on the convergence of technology and public policy.
