Red Vic Movie House
San Francisco, CA

Dir. Woody Allen US 1984
Jesse Hawthorne Ficks and MiDNiTES FOR MANiACS returns to the Red Vic to host a double feature of his two favorite rarely screened Woody Allen classics! In Broadway Danny Rose, the career of a small-time Broadway talent agent, whose roster of hopeless clients and bad luck send him on a series of adventures, is recalled by some old Catskills comedians swapping tales at Carnegie deli in New York. (1984: 86m)

The silver screen meets reality in The Purple Rose of Cairo, which Woody Allen considers to be his personal favorite of his own films. Mia Farrow stars as Cecilia, a depression-era waitress married to a brutish husband (Danny Aiello), who finds her only escape at the movies. She sees her favorite film so many times, that the handsome main character, Tom Baxter (Jeff Daniels), falls in love with her and steps off the screen to woo her. (1985: 82m)

The double feature is preceded by a gaggle of rare Woody teasers & trailers!
