Empowering the Skirt - DTTS

This workshop will teach you how to hold and carry your skirt to work with your movements and bring out your grace and power. This is not a choreography class but rather a study of movement with the skirt -- it is all about the skirts!

EVADNE MEDINA -- VANY-- DANCER, PERFORMER, INSTRUCTOR, CHOREOGRAPHER, AND OWNER AND CREATOR OF DANCING THROUGH THE SKIRT, SHE HAS BEEN DANCING ALL HER LIFE WITH FOLKLORIC DANCERS IN PUERTO RICO, GERMANY AND DIFFERENT PART OF THE USA. SHE STARTED BELLY DANCING 15 YEARS AGO.

You will need at least one 25 yard skirt to participate in the workshop, 2 is preferable, worn one on top of the other for extra fullness. Some 25 yard skirts will be available to for use during the class for a very small fee. If you do not have one remember to reserve one here when you buy the registration.

Following the workshop there will be an evening opportunity to perform - all styles of belly dance will be welcome to perform, participants of the workshop will have an opportunity to dance.

Children 12 and over may attend the workshop with parental permission. Children of all ages are welcome to the show, under 16 are free with an adult. Please be respectful of the show and take disruptive children outside.

Workshop 1-3 pm for $20.00

Skirt rental for $3.00

Show ticket for workshop attendees or performers is free.

For family or friends to attend the show only will be 5.00 in advance or 5.00 cash at the door, with the show starting at 6pm.

DTTS - This dance workshop helps prepare you for DTTS. Dancing through the skirt is applicable to solo dance, duets and groups. The goal is to incorporate the skirt (full "gypsy" style) in more than 50% of your dance. DTTS movements are similar to foloric dences, other movements are new and born of DTTS. Dancing through the skirt is applicable to different kinds of music or styles.
