Michael Showalter's father's name is English; he teaches French. His mother's name is Elaine; she teaches English. Growing up, Michael wanted to be a cartoonist; to draw pictures of ferns and lampshades in the margins of The New Yorker. Instead he's a comedian. That's why he's here.
