Great ensemble theater performances don't happen overnight. They take hours of rehearsal, utilizing unique approaches to training as diverse as the artists in this year's FURY Factory lineup. FoolsFURY invites you to take a peek into the world of these dynamic artists to see what makes them tick. No previous training necessary.

Campo Santo & Felonious Guest Artists: Tommy Shepherd & Dan Wolf 1st elements: the building blocks of rhythm theater Monday, June 13th, 6:30-9:30
Using scenes from the play 1st elements (who shot miguelito?) participants will explore three separate "layers" of performance - text, rhythm, rhyme. The three-hour workshop will include basic rhythm exercises to develop focus, free play and imagination, an exploration of coro, solo and duo scenes from the play, and ultimately the opportunity to create short, original rap and rhythm theater pieces.
About Felonious: TOMMY SHEPHERD A.K.A Emcee Soulati: I'm an actor, playwright, b-boy, rapper, drummer,beatboxer,educator and Resident Hybrid Project Artist at Intersection For the Arts. I've performed in the dance theatre piece one window by the Erika Shuch Performance Project. In 2004 I was an actor, musical director and live vocal musician for the play a fist of roses by Philip Kan Gotanda created with Campo Santo + Intersection. In 2006, I Played the role of "l" and Music Director for"Blood in the Brain," a re-imagining of Shakespeares' Hamlet by Naomi Iizuka with California Shakespeare Theater And Campo Santo + Intersection. I'm also co-founder, for the live hip hop band Felonious: onelovehiphop. Felonious plays throughout the state and also develops and creates theatrical productions. I'm the co-author and musical director of Beatbox: A Raparetta, developed at San Jose Rep's New America Playwrights Festival in 1999 and produced in San Francisco, Oakland, the New York Hip Hop Theater Festival, and Hamburg,Germany. I'm also In the process of collaborating with Dan Wolf on Stateless, performing and creating the live musical soundscape in a show that premiered at Intersection and has already shown in festivals in Germany with plans for performances throughout the Bay Area this fall and winter. Currently I'm working on a cooking television show for children called Doof (food Backwards), on a world tour with Marc Bamuthi Josephs' "Scourge" And Composing music for Donald Lacys' "ColorStruckkk" and "A Place To Stand" By Jimmy Santiago-Bacca And Ntozake Shange
Dan Wolf is a multi-disciplinary performer who combines conventional theater styles with the themes, language, music and aesthetics of hip-hop. He is a founding member of the hip-hop collective Felonious and a resident artist with the Hybrid Project at San Francisco's Intersection for the Arts. During the day he is the Program Manager/Performance Curator of The Hub at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco which produces and presents cutting-edge events that promote the revolution of Jewish arts, culture and community.
