The term Cointelpro refers to the official FBI Counter Intelligence Program carried out to surveil, imprison, and eliminate leaders of social justice movements and to disrupt, divide, and destroy the movements themselves.
Understanding the history and continuing impact of Cointelpro is absolutely central to understanding the U.S. government's wars and its suppression of progressive movements.
