Ear Heart Music Presents: Los Angeles Electric 8 - Interlocking Textures
Los Angeles Electric 8 is a chamber octet in which eight guitarists reclaim classical music for the electric guitar. This program juxtaposes Indonesian gamelan with American minimalism, challenging audiences to rethink the similarities and differences of these two traditions. Featuring Javanese songs, Balinese kecak chants, and music by Mantle Hood and Wayne Siegel, the program weaves a coherent tapestry between old and new, east and west, oral and written all ringing from a chorus of eight electric guitars. The highlight of this program will be the New York premiere of 96 Tears, written by New York composer Phil Kline. www.losangeleselectric8.com
This Performance is Presented as Part of Ear Music: Contemporary Classical Music @ The Tank.

About Ear Music Called "truly original" by Time Out NY, *Ear Music* is where New Yorkers can get their aural fix. Featuring some of the city's most cutting edge performers, composers and programming, this is a modern chamber music series presented to an intimate crowd. Our audiences are engaged not simply entertained by the music they hear. We nurture our listeners by presenting repertoire that is challenging yet relevant, and by providing context for our work. Most often shows incorporate multi-media elements such as electronic processing, performance art, film and dance. Curated by Amelia Lukas. bit.ly/earheart
