ahdanco on the ashby stage
The Ashby Stage Berkeley, CA
ahdanco's 2011 season performance incorporates two new works designed to open up and provide entry into the human psyche in an overtly narrative way. These works intend to reflect upon, relate to, empathize with, assess and accept aspects of humanity that separate or attach people coexisting in a chaotic world.
The performances will feature an original score and live performance by four-piece ambient band Entamoeba. Spoken word artists will be sharing the stage with dancers in a dynamic 'dialogue' of spoken word and choreography, producing a creation and aesthetic that has been described "at times accessing disturbing images but always with an understanding that vulnerability is an essential aspect of the human condition."
Hosein's choreography has been described by critics as "powerfully elegant and haunting," and "punctuated with sharp detail." Rita Feliciano, in the March 2008 issue of Voice of Dance, lauds her ability to "employ a well-chosen imaginative vocabulary which produce[s] choreographies with emotional resonance."
