Tardeada Dance in Long Beach
Conjunto Los Pochos invites you to attend its first Tardeada Dance in Long Beach.
Is it possible to be unhappy when there's an accordion in the room? We think not but come see Conjunto Los Pochos and find out for yourselves. While steeped in traditional Tex-Mex Conjunto music, they are not quite your typical Tex-Mex group. Los Pochos have traversed the folk scene fusing country and blues, serenading crowds from museums to concert halls, and providing the mystical, musical ambience for theater productions throughout the United States and Canada. The two co-founders of the group met at CalArts and parlayed their degrees in Visual Arts and Jazz Piano into a lucrative career of banging out traditional Mexican music. The group includes Grammy-award winner, Lorenzo Martinez, and Ernesto Molina, who himself comes from a lineage of Mariachi royalty. Los Pochos know how to lay down a foot-stompin' polka, dive into a whimsical Cumbia and then finesse a romantic Bolero. Whether singing in English or in Spanish, their music transcends language. Don't miss this performance and dance that'll leave you feeling like you've somehow traveled the border from Texas to California in the matter of hours, without having left the dance floor.
