2nd ONE Queer Film Fest
The 2nd annual ONE Queer Film Fest is a celebration of the diversity, culture and history of our queer communities. The event is an opportunity for multi-cultural and multi-generational exchange within the LGBT community. Historic and contemporary films are combined within the film fest to address the growth and transformation of the LGBT community, as well as current cultural and political trends. This year's film fest includes 2 hours of short films including:
Stay (Aaron Chan) A young man wants to stay the night with his lover, but his mother keeps calling him home.
Out of Bounds (Nicholas Paul Ybarra) A lesbian love story. One is a rebellious gay rights activist and the other is in the closet.
The Bath (Lee Mi-Rang) A trans woman reluctantly visits the public baths with her sister, transforming the family relationship. (Korea, sub).
Chained! (Betsy Kalin) A sexy, humorous romp through the lives of lesbians who love wallet chains.
From Miles Away (Tyler Binkley) A homosexual perspective of chasing love and youthful desire. A young man returns to the laundromat where he briefly encountered a potential lover, but had failed to make an introduction.
Face for Sale: Bitch, Bitch, Bitch (Debra Simone) The lighter, less clinical, but no less painful side of Facial Feminization.
A Gay Ol' Time (Erika Martinez) An exploration of the trials and triumphs of LGBT older adults.
Into the Streets (Jamie Kravitz) A look back at the massive grassroots mobilization that followed Gov. Pete Wilson's veto of equal protection legislation 20 years ago. It's a striking parallel to the recent Prop. 8 protests.
A filmmaker Q&A and rooftop after party will follow the films.
The 2nd ONE Queer Film Fest is a benefit for the ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives, the world's largest queer history collection. ONE Archives is located at 909 W. Adams Blvd. in Los Angeles and is open to the public.
