The Business of Books with Jen & Kerry: 3-Part PUBLISHING SERIES PACKAGE
Local authors and former publishing executives Kerry Colburn and Jennifer Worick have paired up and created a series of workshops for aspiring authors titled "The Business of Books with Jen & Kerry." Bringing nearly 40 years of experience and 40 published books between the two of them, Colburn and Worick created this lively series of talks to offer insight, inspiration and tools for navigating the world of publishing.
Each event in the series will take place in Hotel 1000's intimate Corner Room setting. This three-part Publishing Series--available as a package for $99, a $21 savings--will help you choose your publishing path, become well-versed in the industry, and maximize your book's success. These are totally applicable to both nonfiction and fiction, including children's and genre fiction. The schedule is as follows:
Thursday, April 28, 7 to 9pm: Pick Your Publisher
Large publisher, their imprints, niche publishing house, e-book, print-on-demand, self-publishing--what's the best route for your book idea, and what are the pros and cons of each? You'll leave this talk with a clear plan of which publishing route is the right fit for your unique idea.
May 26, 7 to 9pm: The Art of the Book Deal
Get the lowdown on the business side of publishing, including key contract points, advances and royalties, options, and how the publisher's sales and marketing plans affect your book. You'll leave armed with all the tools to get the best possible deal from a publisher.
June 30, 7 to 9pm: What Makes a Book a Bestseller?
How--and why--do books land on the bestseller list, and how can you help maximize your book's sales potential? Learn how publishers target books with breakout sales potential and create demand in surprising ways. You will never walk through a bookstore the same way again.
