CIMMFest 2011: Bouncing Cats

Wicker Park Arts Center
Chicago, IL

Directed by Nabil Elderkin

Famine, poverty, and civil war rob most Ugandan children of anything resembling childhood. In 2006, Abramz Tekya, a Ugandan orphan, created Breakdance Project Uganda, establishing workshops to teach children about b-boy culture in order to empower themselves. The film follows Rock Steady Crew member Crazy Legs on his visit to Uganda, where he discovered that despite horrific conditions the youth of Uganda still have hope. Narrated by Common, and featuring interviews with Mos Def and Will.I.Am. In person: Nabil Elderkin and Abramz Tekya.
