Phoenix Festival 2005 -- Waking The Dragon

5 years ago some madcap fellows with a vision came together to throw one of the largest outdoor underground electronic music festivals in the northwest. Over the years they braved rutted cattle-fields in minivans, zany Baptists, weeks of dust, strained relationships, extreme sleep-deprivation, crucifixion, and various digestive ills due to an overabundance of Red Bull.

From their brilliance, their dedication, and their suffering was born the Phoenix Festival: three nights and three days of local and international music talent, visual and performance art, and collective creation.

What made the Phoenix Festival so special, and so rewarding for its weary progenitors, was the community that came together in those three days to connect, celebrate, and create.

This year we hope to simultaneously expand our horizons and take things back to the glory of our roots. We want to encourage more art of every kind, and create a comfortable environment for collaboration, communication, and freedom of expression, additionally we are showcasing several international psytrance acts as well as incorporating headliners from other genres who enjoy a strong following in our EDM communities. On top of all of this, will spend more time highlighting the community stages and themecamps and in a wonderfully devious turn of events we have attracted the attention of a large underground circus troupe who will be setting up cmap at the fest. All in all there is a lot in store as we embark on our most diverse and exciting year ever!

The Phoenix Festival is a tabula rasa ready for the imprint of everyone who attends. It is the kind of place where you can paint yourself blue because it's Sunday and run around yodeling without fear of embarrassment or institutionalization. Ultimately the Phoenix Festival is your festival and your community.
