Mile High Freedom Band Presents: Celebrations and Meditations
The Mile High Freedom Band presents Celebrations & Meditations, a concert of American music reflecting on profound and diverse themes ranging from the rustic life of Appalachian farmers to a Jewish prayer. Included on the program is Frank Ticheli's "American Elegy," which remembers the tragic events at Columbine High School in 1999, both honoring the victims as well as piecing together a way for life to continue. The concert features works by Aaron Copland, as well as American band composers including Ticheli, Francis McBeth, Alfred Reed, and Howard Hanson.
