BUTOH-based training for actors, dancers, performance artists and performers of all kinds and valuable for non-performers seeking enriched body-imagination-sensory experience.

Katsura KAN
A native of Kyoto, Kan performed with the seminal Butoh troupe, "Byakkosha" 1979-1981 and continued his own research in dance traditions throughout Africa, Europe and South East Asia for the past 30 years. He is a celebrated solo and collaborative performer, and choreographer. Kan continues to travel the world teaching and performing butoh and creating projects with dance and theater companies.

Kan's classes explore the idea of "transformation" which is the key to his understanding of butoh. He will guide you through a new cognitive approach of body with emphasis on listening to your weight, awakening your noise, and focusing on the other side of your reality.

One, 4-hour Open Class: $35 early registration by APRIL 30th / $50 after
