The Museum School "Picture This" Gala 2011
The Museum School welcomes you to our annual fundraising gala, "Picture This: Focus on the Museum School" at the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego's historic Balboa Park. Join us for a night of light food, drinks, fun, photos, a live auction and a short film about the school's amazing children. All proceeds fund the school's unique departments and programs such as Kitchen Science, Engineering, Community Service, Sewing, and more.
The show this evening at MOPA is "Streetwise: Masters of 60's Photography." Streetwise builds on Swiss photographer Robert Frank's snapshot aesthetic, which gained attention following the release of his groundbreaking book, The Americans in 1959. Frank's focus on a more personal documentary style influenced a new generation of photographers, including legendaries such as Diane Arbus, Lee Friedlander, Jerry Berndt, Ruth-Marion Baruch, Garry Winogrand, Bruce Davidson, Danny Lyon and Ernest Withers.
There will be street tacos, drinks & dessert, plus a silent and live auction with an amazing assortment of great deals, all benefiting the Museum School. A film, put together by MS kids and staff, will show in the auditorium. It's shaping up to be a fun evening with friends.
And remember, Prime Time is offering childcare this evening at the school. For more information, check your inboxes at school!
