Late Night @ LHAAFF: Gonna Sip That Sip, Hit that Dip/ Lords of BSV
Gonna Sip That Sip, Hit that Dip: The Emerging Queer Hip-Hop Movement. A short documentary about the emerging queer hip-hop scene which is now on the verge of becoming mainstream. In addition to documenting the scene, the film challenges assumptions around why that the 'queer hip hop' movement is progressing and its relation to the broader hip-hop movement. [Director: Chasson Gracie, Willyum Beck ** Categories: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Dance ** Runtime: 13 min.]

Lords Of BSV: The young men of BSV live to die in Brooklyn. Coming from one of the most criminal and poverty stricken places in the US, a dance called Brukup has given them the discipline and foundation to succeed in other endeavors to forge a better way of life for themselves and their families. Lords of BSV is about BSV, The Bedstuy Veterans, from BedStuy Brooklyn, who are the revivalists of Brukup, created by George 'Bruck Up' Adams. This dance form saves lives as BSV serves the community by keeping kids off the streets and showing them how to turn anger into the art of dance. Welcome to the dirty, gritty, glamorous, hood with a group of proactive characters bound for fame and fortune. Bedstuy lingo drives the dialogue and the dance segments are electrifying. Lords of BSV shows us that as artists, the ability to overcome issues that draw kids to the street are now drawing kids to DANCE and achieve the most difficult dance form in Brooklyn, New York. Brukup!
[Director: Maria Soccor ** Category: Documentary ** Runtime: 78 min. ** Filmmaker in attendance]
