Ear Heart Music Double Bill: Daniel Lippel & Flowers and Smoke
This program is an exploration of new directions for classical guitar, amplified guitar with effects, and electric guitar. There is a tendency towards moto perpetuo
textures in these works, a technique of accumulation that counteracts the guitar's innate tendency to decay quickly. The pieces selected are mixed between works written for the concert hall and works designed for a club atmosphere. Through the use of extended techniques, effects pedals, and looping devices, these pieces strive in different ways to push beyond the conventional limits of a set of solo guitar works towards a broader aesthetic.

SMOKE & FLOWERS
Smoke & Flowers is an evening of collaboration between music and video created by ANN DARA and Marisol Limon. They blend genres musically and explore the boundaries of romance and reality that could be described as electronic chamber pop. With the accompaniment of video, they fill space with continuous sound and create an environment that is Smoke & Flowers.

ANN DARA is a Brooklyn based artist that encompasses performance as an improviser, composer, collaborator, and multimedia/interdisciplinary artist. She received degrees from The Juilliard School and New York University and learned from her popular culture environment to blur boundaries that define musical genres. She has musically redefined the perception of a classically trained violist by her combination and collaboration with modern technology and multimedia composition.

About Ear ♥ Music
Ear ♥ Music, curated by Amelia Lukas and Anna Callner, is where New Yorkers can get their aural fix. Featuring some of New York’s most cutting edge performers, composers and programming, this is a modern chamber music series presented to an intimate crowd. We believe that audiences want to be engaged â€" not simply entertained â€" by the music they go out to hear. We nurture our listeners by presenting repertoire that is challenging yet relevant, and by providing context for our work. Our concerts generally consist of two sets performed by two different ensembles and pair contemporary chamber music with related cross-genre chamber rock. Shows often incorporate multi-media elements such as electronic processing, performance art, film and dance.
