Jason Dennie / Ember Swift
Jason Dennie
Jason Dennie grew up around acoustic music. The sound of acoustic guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and banjo were pretty common and familiar to his ears by the time he actually had an interest in playing anything himself. Guitar was what he chose and while early influences could be named; Tony Rice, Doc Watson, Stephen Stills and Neil Young, the music that would come from him would always be a unique combination of everything he'd heard.
In 1999 Jason left Cincinnati Ohio to head north for Ann Arbor, MI. Before leaving town, he had remained on the lists of the Best Releases of the Year for several years with his solo cds and the album he did with Noah Hunt (Long Black Train) and won 3 consecutive CAMMY AWARDS for BEST FOLK/BLUEGRASS INSTRUMENTALIST from 1997-1999.
1997 Cammy Award Best Folk Instrumentalist
1998 Cammy Award Best Folk Instrumentalist
1999 Cammy Award Best Folk/Bluegrass Instrumentalist
2000 Gamble Rogers Fingerstyle Champion (Florida)
2005 Bronze Winner for Best Solo Musician - Ann Arbor News
"I've been blessed enough to share the stage with some of the great guitarists of all time: Carlos Santana, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and B.B. King....Jason Dennie, for a number of years, has definitely been included in my list of greats....he's a flat-out genius."
(Noah Hunt, lead vocalist for the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band)

Ember Swift - LENTIC - Two worlds, one artist
Canadian artist Ember Swift is an internationally touring musician and songwriter, and founder of the independent label Few'll Ignite Sound. Though she divides her "home time" between Toronto and Beijing, she continues to tour extensively throughout Canada, the US, Australia, New Caledonia (French island in the Pacific) and now China. She has released 10 albums and 1 DVD project since 1996 and continues to have a loyal fan base across many national borders. In between her regular touring in other countries, though, she's been hiding out and writing songs near Chao Yang Park for the past two and a half years.
Having taken the time to learn Chinese, immerse in the culture (which included falling in love and getting married to a local Beijing musician—these things take time!), as well as to develop a new body of work that settles more naturally into this new place and cultural surroundings (LENTIC, released 2009), Ember Swift will be bringing her music to stages China this summer (2010).
This performance will be a combination of some of Ember Swift's new Lentic material alongside of her previously released older material. Styles include jazz, swing, R&B, funk, pop, folk‐rock, blues, and French cabaret. Ember sings in English, French, and Mandarin. If you're looking for a diverse collection of music without having to endure the waiting times between multiple bands, this is the show to attend!
