SAXOPHONE VIRTUOSO and PREMIERE with ROCHESTER COMPOSERS
Internationally renowned saxophonist Chien-Kwan Lin, a native of Hong Kong who performs worldwide, and is currently on the Artist Faculty at the Eastman School of Music, will be the soloist with the Rochester Chamber Orchestra, David Fetler, music director, on Sunday, May 22.
Mr. Lin will be featured in Piazzola's colorful 'Oblivion', in the delightful 'Grasshopper Dances' by Rochester composer, Cary Ratcliff, and a selection by well-known Eastman School of Music faculty composer, David Liptak.
The Bach Children's Chorus will be featured in German folk songs, Mozart's well-known 'Alleluia', Beethoven, and the PREMIERE of conductor David Fetler's Toward the Unknown Region featuring narrator, bass Thomas Paul. The text, by Walt Whitman from his Leaves of Grass, describes the adventure of the spirit into the unknown regions beyond earth.
The program will open with an Overture by the German Baroque master Georg Phillipp Telemann.
The Bach Children's Chorus, Karla Krogstad, Director, is Western New York's most respected children's classical music ensemble, and they have been praised in the Rochester Arts Community as the best young singers in the area.
