I Leave This at Your Ear
Several young New York composers will come together for an eclectic evening of new music. The first set will contain music for small and large ensembles by Conrad Winslow, Barret Anspach, and Dillon Kondor, featuring some of New York's finest performers of new music, hailing from the Bang on a Can All-Stars, MIVOS string quartet, SIGNAL ensemble, Talea Ensemble, and Wet-Ink. The second set will be the luminous David Crowell Ensemble, fusing notated composition with jazz and ambient improvisation to create a focused and original sound, and closing the show with a new large work for all the musicians from both sets, by David Crowell. With a huge range of compositional styles - from lyrical, to grotesque, to dance-able - as well as instrumentations from intimate to earth shattering, the evening promises to be a rich mix of the different sounds and ideas of today's NYC new music landscape.
