counter)induction plays *homages and overwrites*
The innovative composer-performer collective counter)induction presents "homages and overwrites," a program that features contemporary works together with the historical works that inspired them.
Alfred Schnittke completes Mahler's unfinished Piano Quartet. Douglas Boyce's Etudes continues the conceptual expansion of the etude begun in Debussy's Etudes. A new work by Kyle Bartlett juxtaposes her more recent compositional devices with the music she grew up with in Arkansas. Finally, Schumann himself is the source of inspiration for Hungarian composer Gyorgy Kurtag's Hommage a R. Sch.
