JD HINTON AND HARRIET SCHOCK
HARRIET SCHOCK is a gold and platinum songwriter and a recording artist with seven solo albums.
Her song, "Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady", was nominated for a Grammy for Helen Reddy. Other artists who have recorded Harriet's songs include Johnny Mathis, Vikki Carr, Roberta Flack, Smokey Robinson, Syreeta, Gloria Loring, Nancy Wilson, Jeannie Kendall, The Little Mermaid, and Carl Anderson among others. Ms. Schock's songs are also heard in films from major studios and in programming for all major television networks.
Recently, as an actor, Harriet created the part of Sally Brooks in the world-premiere play Just 45 Minutes from Broadway, written by Henry Jaglom, and even more recently acted in the film Jaglom made based on the play. Before that, she scored his last three films, including Irene in Time which featured Harriet and her band on camera doing four original Schock songs.
Harriet Schock was the recipient of the Award for Career Achievement and Industry Contribution by the Los Angeles Women in Music.
Her live show garnered a Dramalog award.
JD HINTON has composed songs and music for Hollywood films including GLORIA, TICK-TOCK, TOUCHED BY A KILLER. CHILDREN ON THEIR BIRTHDAYS, a film based on the Truman Capote short story, featured CELINE DION singing "I Have to Dream", written by Hinton with Rick Solem and Ross Vannelli. Hinton and Vannelli created over 17 songs written to reflect the 1947 period of the film.
Hinton has taken his original music into Los Angeles clubs including the House of Blues and the Viper Room. He performed to rave reviews at the International Edinburgh Festival Fringe and, on the final Christmas of the millennium, he sang at the Vatican for the Pope.
In Hollywood, Hinton used improvisational skills he developed as a disc jockey to land acting roles in top television shows and films. The surprise move toward acting resulted in hundreds of starring turns and series regular credits.
Music and songwriting now command JD's creative time. Most recently, JD sings his song "Long Way From Home" in the feature film REFUGE starring Linda Hamilton and Chris McDonald and is also credited as Music Supervisor for the film.
