An Evening with Helen Humphreys
Tickets include a copy of the book, wine and light refreshments, plus a donation to the Children's Book Bank.

Helen Humphreys is the author of four books of poetry, six novels, and two works of creative non-fiction. She was born in Kingston-on-Thames, England, and now lives in Kingston, Ontario. Her novels include The Lost Garden (2002), Coventry (2008), and The Reinvention of Love (2011). Humphreys' work of creative non-fiction, The Frozen Thames (2007), was a #1 national bestseller. Her most recent work of non-fiction is Nocturne (2013), a memoir about the life and death of her brother, Martin. In 2009 Helen Humphreys was awarded the Harbourfront Festival Prize for literary excellence.

The Evening Chorus, set in wartime England, is "a quietly commanding narrative of nature's constancy in a time of unspeakable human ruin. In characteristically effortless prose, Humphreys relates a familiar tale of love and loss in war, but reveals a valuable truth: that nature in its timeless wisdom has the ability to remind humans, in the darkest of days, of their humanity."
