Immerse yourself in the shadowy vastness of the Abbey Church of St. Peter in Salzburg. It is 1780 on the eve of the Feast of Saint Rupert. The air is thick with the smell of incense and the must of aged stone. Renowned soprano Julianne Baird joins Choral Arts Philadelphia in a loose recreation of the Vespers Service for this Feast.
The Bach Collegium of Philadelphia provides period instrument accompaniment in a program featuring the elegant Solemn Vespers of the Confessor (K339) and the beautiful Regina Coeli (K108) in this all-Mozart program. The beloved "Ave verum corpus" (K618) and selected Church Sonatas for organ and orchestra round out the program.
