An Audience with Adventure
Expedition company Secret Compass has teamed up with the Kendal Mountain Film Festival to present an evening of incredible adventure films (in London on Thursday May 21 at UCL's Kennedy Lecture Theatre, London WC1N 1EH) as part of the Kendal Mountain Film Festival Tour.
There will also be an expert adventurers' panel session compered by the inimitable Alastair Humphreys. Al will host an on-stage Q&A with three of the adventure industry's most inspiring men and women.
The evening will run as follows:
6pm: Doors open for mingling (cash bar for food and snacks available) 7pm: Event begins with an hour-long programme of short films (listed below) From 8pm-8.15pm ish: Adventurer panel begins hosted by Al Humphreys 9pm: 30 minute interval (cash bar for food and snacks available) 9.30: Final adventure film, a highlight of Kendal Film Fest
This is a charitable evening run on a non-profit basis by Secret Compass will all proceeds going to Joshua Orphan and Community Care, a charity based in Malawi.

Al Humphreys Adventurer, blogger, author and motivational speaker Al was named National Geographic Adventurer of the Year for his pioneering work on the concept of microadventures trying to encourage people to get outside, out of their comfort zone and somewhere they've never been. Dan Milner Dan is a professional mountain and adventure photographer with a penchant for shooting masochistic bike, snow or "just-for-the-hell-of-it" expeditions. He worked on Forgotten Dirt Afghanistan's first MTB film. Dan's shot with some of the snow and bike world's most legendary names and his pioneering trips have given him a reputation for pushing snowboarding and mountain biking into more adventurous realms. Ants Bolingbroke-Kent Travel writer, TV producer and adventurer Ants has a particular love of wandering alone through remote regions. Her latest book, A Short Ride in the Jungle, recounts her solo motorcycle journey down the remnants of the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Ants has also driven a tuk tuk from Bangkok to the UK, ridden a zebra print motorcycle around the Black Sea and and nearly frozen to death whilst attempting to reach the Russian Arctic on an old Ural. Jamie Berry Jamie was the producer on Levison Wood's recent Walking the Nile Channel 4 series and has also produced programmes on epic landscapes from Everest to Alaska. Jamie will be able to elucidate what it's really like behind the scenes in some of the world's wildest places, and the challenges of working in such politically and environmentally challenging conditions.
