Lary Barilleau & The Latin Jazz Collective
Lary Barilleau & The Latin Jazz Collective play the Columbia City Theater for a night of Latin Jazz and Salsa.
Lary Barilleau - over 30 years experience as a percussionist in jazz, latin jazz, and salsa music. Was co-founder of popular latin-jazz band Sonando. A veteran of all the northwest's major festivals and clubs. Worked and recorded with Pete Escovedo, Doug Beavers, Julian Prestier and Marc Seales among others. Recorded and performed several concerts with legendary jazz vocalist Mark Murphy. Their 1998 recording Song For The Geese lead to a Grammy nomination. For the last 15 years Lary has been a member of the Marc Seales Jazz Group and is featured on the current release The Paris Suite with local favorites Thomas Marriott, Evan Flory Barnes and DeVonne Lewis. Lary is also a accomplished composer and many of his originals will be featured on the his Latin Jazz Collective's upcoming CD - Carmen's Mambo. Aside from music Lary is also a national award-winning educator in the Seattle Public Schools and International Arts Department Head at Hamilton International Middle School. This new band will feature original latin jazz including classic latin jazz and salsa music.
