12th Annual Tour de Elizabeth

The much anticipated Tour de Elizabeth returns!!
On Sunday May 17th, the City of Elizabeth in cooperation with Groundwork Elizabeth, the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders HEART grant program, support from local businesses, local representative government, non-profit partners, and the community at large will host the Annual "Tour de Elizabeth", a 15 mile bicycle ride for riders of every skill level. Registration is open via www.elizabethnj.org, www.groundworkelizabeth.com, or by mail by writing to Groundwork at 205 First Street, Elizabth, N.J. 07206. Special incentives of a FREE cap and shirt are slated for those who register by May 10th.

Organizers of the route have designed it so that it can be ridden safely and enjoyably, with views of urban and natural beauty for riders of every skill. City of Elizabeth police provide escorts and traffic control officers so that cyclists make it safely through the many road intersections. Although the Tour welcomes both young and old, the Safety portion of the Committee led by the Police Department stresses that riders should have a basic level of competency and children under the age of 12 should be accompanied by an adult. And of course, helmets are a requirement.
