The Room
Red Vic Movie House San Francisco, CA
Dir. Tommy Wiseau US 2003 The Room is a cinematic experience unlike anything else. Set in a San Francisco beautifully rendered on green screen, we meet Johnny, a banker played by director Tommy Wiseau. He has a great job, friends and even a girlfriend he hopes will be The One. But not all is as tranquil as it seems. Drugs, deception, soft-core sex and a cheating heart start to slowly unravel Johnnys life! He is trapped by his own kind nature amongst these betrayals and must find a way out. The Room is crafted in such a way that you can't believe that it has been accomplished on the reported $6 million budget. The Room has enjoyed successful midnight screenings in Los Angeles for the past 7 years and now proudly plays in the city it is (sorta) set it. Perhaps by the end you will have an answer to the one, plaguing question: Is this the Citizen Kane of bad movies? (99m)
