Flashlight Shows is so excited to bring Tall Tall Trees to Chattanooga for our first ever event! This guy is incredible. Read more about him down below.
For each Flashlight Show event, we will also be featuring a local non-profit and a local visual artist. You will have an opportunity to interact with reps from the non-profit and a chance to purchase art at the shows.
The featured non-profit for this show will be Story Creators who "rewrites the future for Chattanooga's neediest children by combining reading and writing practice, lessons in writing poetry and fiction, and art instruction for one hour after school each week for ten weeks". The featured artist for this show will come from Hart Gallery whose mission is "offering homeless person and other non-traditional artists an opportunity to create and sell their artwork for their benefit". More at: hartgallerytn.com

"Bearded man sings songs, violates banjo" - CMJ
Tall Tall Trees is definitely not your grandaddy's banjo player. Mike Savino has released two full length albums and one EP on his own start-up label Good Neighbor Records, Tall Tall Trees (2009), and moment (2012), and The Seasonal (2014). He has toured extensively, mystifying audiences with his innovative banjo technique. Savino runs his instrument, dubbed by fans as the "space banjo" or "banjotron", through a slab of effects and loopers, bowing, drumming, and strumming out multi-textured arrangements on the fly to support his lyrically driven songs.
For the past several years, Tall Tall Trees has been splitting his time between touring as a solo artist and touring the world as a member of violin beatboxing violin looping wizard - and of Montreal alum - Kishi Bashi's band, and also serving as the tour's opening act. As a solo act, Tall Tall Trees has played hundreds of venues and many, many excellent festivals - he served as the overall festival opener at the 2014 Newport Folk Festival.
Savino is currently touring extensively and is hard at work on a third full length record, which he is expecting to release in 2015.
