STRAIGHTEN UP AND FLY RIGHT - A Tribute to Nat King Cole

Verona Area Performing Arts Center
Verona, WI

The atmosphere of a 1960's show with Nat King Cole is recreated by producer and pianist Bo Pontius, featuring Maurice Jacox, who takes us on a memory walk through the life of Nat King Cole.  Maurice performs many of Cole's greatest hits along the way, such as "Straighten Up and Fly Right," "Mona Lisa," "Rambling Rose," and "Those Lazy, Hazy Days of Summer."  This unique production explores the genius of this amazing entertainer and a hit-filled career that spanned the decades from 1939 - 1962.  "Straighten Up and Fly Right" looks at more than music, in song and narration.  It captures a transformative period in America and a musician who was shaped by the time.  Maurice Jacox, supported by five instrumentalists and a vocal duo, recreates Cole's group sound, from jazz trio to big band.

Note: Performances will be held at the Verona Area Performing Arts Center located at Verona Area High School, 300 Richard Street, Verona, Wisconsin. All seats reserved.
