CHESS (UK VERSION) IN CONCERT

The musical story of a love triangle involving a politically-driven, Cold War-era chess tournament between two menan American grandmaster and a Soviet grandmasterand their fight over a woman who manages one and falls in love with the other. Although the protagonists were not intended to represent any real individuals, the character of the American Grandmaster was loosely based on Bobby Fischer, while elements of the story may have been inspired by the chess careers of Russian Grandmasters Viktor Korchnoi and Anatoly Karpov.

Music by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus (formerly of ABBA) creators of the hit Broadway musical, Mama Mia. Lyrics by Tim Rice (Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita).

The first theatrical production of Chess opened in London's West End in 1986 and played for three years. Chess came seventh in a BBC Radio 2 listener poll of the U.K.'s "Number One Essential Musicals." In June 2009, PBS premiered Chess in Concert starring Josh Groban, Idina Menzel, Adam Pascal and Kerry Ellis.

TWO NIGHTS ONLY - Chess (UK Version) in Concert is presented as a fundraiser for our Artist Fund. All proceeds benefit our artists during the 2014-15 season. Donations can be made during the event by cash, check or credit card.

Ticket includes a wine & cheese reception following each performance for audience members to meet the cast, musicians and production team.
