Hearts Helping Haiti: A Benefit Music Festival
August 21, 2010 from 11:30-7:30: Hearts Helping Haiti (an organization of Mendocino County volunteers supporting the people of Haiti) presents a full day of outdoor music and more at the lush Nelson Family Vineyards. The vineyards are located at 550 Nelson Ranch Road, 5 miles south of Ukiah, west off Highway 101 at the strawberry stand. All proceeds go directly to the Reveil Matinal Orphanage in Port au Prince.
Four local bands are featured: The five-piece Dirt Floor Band opens at noon with its unique acoustic/glam/fusion mix. At 2 PM, Rootstock brings its World Reggae Fusion jam to the stage. Pura Vida follows at 4 PM with hot Latin danc music from the Afro-Caribbean diaspora. And the day winds up with local rock heroes the Hansen & Raitt Band.
There will be international food vendors, locally produced beers and wines, plenty of activities for kids, and an on-going silent auction (also to benefit the orphanage). Bring the family to picnic, dance, hear great music, relax in a beautiful setting, and extend a helping hand to children in Haiti who are very much in need.
Don't forget: Blankets, folding chairs, hats and sunscreen. Sorry, NO PETS.
