Funkadesi, Chicago's most diverse world music group, fuses East Indian music (bhangra/bollywood/classical) with reggae, funk, and Afro-Caribbean grooves. The band's visible diversity is equally matched by the band's energy. It's hard not to dance to this one-world sound. It's a well-seasoned mix, as the band is going on their 14th year of performing and recording together.

Funkadesi will be celebrating the pre-release of Putumayo's compilation "Tribute to a Reggae Legend: The Songs of Bob Marley". Limited advanced copies of the compilation will be available at the show.

Founder Rahul Sharma is ecstatic about debuting his band in his hometown of Kalamazoo. The band is scheduled to headline Blissfest in northern Michigan, doing 2 shows and a "Drums from Around the World" workshop.

The Kalamazoo debut is also co-sponsored by the Race Exhibit, a southwest Michigan initiative aimed at calling attention to and improving race relations throughout southwest Michigan.
