Carbon Leaf with Soul Serene, Corn Mash
East City Park Moscow, ID
Carbon Leaf: Carbon Leaf hails from Virginia, the same musically fertile purlieu that nurtured the likes of the Dave Matthews Band, Bruce Hornsby and Jason Mraz. Their sound is a blend of influences. Carbon Leave inspires an aura of warmth with music punctuated by diverse instruments including bouzouki, mandolin, upright bass, violin, penny whistle, B3, Rhodes, banjo as well as acoustic and electric guitar. The band has recorded seven albums, releasing four on their own and three through the indie label, Vanguard Records. Carbon Leaf was the first unsigned band to ever perform on the American Music Awards and win, capturing the award for the Coca Cola New Music Award.
Soul Serene: Soul Serene is a Rock/Pop/Reggae Band that hails from Boise, ID. The original music of Soul Serene is energetic and explosive, yet smooth and sometimes psychedelic. The music is influenced by the likes of The Beatles, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, and Bob Dylan. Soul Serene sounds like Sublime, Dispatch, Pearl Jam and the Stone temple Pilates. The band loves to throw a few familiar covers into the mix also; sometimes playing them in a traditional style and sometimes Soul Serene adds a fresh new twist.
Note: Rendezvous was started in 1983 by the City of Moscow and the Moscow Arts Commission in response to citizens' requests for a summer music festival. After several years, the event became so successful that the Moscow City Council recommended that it be separately organized and operated. In 1990, Rendezvous in Moscow, Inc. was formed as a private, non-profit corporation.
Since its inception, Rendezvous has showcased some of the country's best musicians, many of whom have gone on to win honors such as The Grammy, the Country Music Award and the Handy Award.
