ANAR: Helene Eriksen's Traditional Dance Theatre is a year-long intensive dance training project. This year, ten dancers present dances and costumes from a diverse cross-section of traditions: Berber dances of ALGERIA, a dance of the traditional Ghawazi dancing girls from Upper EGYPT, a dance to the CLASSICAL ARABIC music composition form of Sama'i, Zeybek dances from the Aegean region of TURKEY, dances of the Roma (Gypsies) of Southern ROMANIAN, fiery dances from TURKMENISTAN, and dances of the nomadic Lori tribe of AFGHANISTAN. PLUS, Helene will present dances Iran, Turkey, Daghestan, Uzbekistan and Algeria.
