Tinnitus
tinnitus [L. tinnÄtus, f. tinnÄre to ring, tinkle] A sensation of ringing in the ears; the perception of sound, which has no external referent; the ghost of sound.
Local movers Sara Naegelin, Leah Wilmoth, and Taylor A. Young premiere their evening-length contemporary dance collaboration, Tinnitus, June 25th through 27th at 8pm. Installed at The Plant, a stunningly long and narrow warehouse space in Southeast, Tinnitus examines how ghosts of sound resonate in our minds and bodies long after the noise has ceased. By turns dynamic and meditative, jarring and humorous, rigid and lithe, Tinnitus negotiates the unstable terrain that lies between sound and silence -- wave and line. In the process, the dancers discover the challenge of staying connected in a precarious world where balance remains constantly under threat.
