What is obvious is that Bob Desper has a gift. His talents were recognized by a select few at a time when the recording industry wasn't combing Portland, Oregon for the next big thing. Unfortunately (as unfortunate for the world as for Bob) life kept happening to Bob, and without a career of music in mind and anyone "in the know" to help him acheive one, we are left with only his primary body of work. We like to wonder what would have been had his album found its way into the right person's hand at a label like Vanguard or Reprise.

And so it goes.

Bob is sixty now. And his recently recorded album of new songs is urgent with love and longing and has those indescribable hair raising chord changes and finger picked runs that are uniquely Bob's. It's a snapshot of a moment in the life of a young blind man struggling towards peace and solae. Come celebrate Bob's oeuvre as he plays this new material for a grateful new audience.
