Sounds of the Soles of the Southwest
Pima Community College Center for the Arts Tucson, AZ
Tucson is celebrating the 20th anniversary of National TAP Dance Day with a performance by professional and amateur tap dancers from Tucson and Phoenix as well as ethnic percussive footwork dance groups that represent the "roots" of tap. Internationally acclaimed dancer, author and award-winning preservationist Rusty Frank is the guest artist. The performance will be emcee'd by magician/comedian Norm Marini. Performers will include: Tap 24.7 (Phoenix), Danswest Dance Productions, Tucson Dance Academy, University of Arizona Tap Cats, senior groups Tap Sensation & The Tucson Prunes, Tir Conaill Irish Dancers, and soloists Audrey Roberts, Austin Twaits, and Angela Swanson to name a few (more artists will be revealed as we get closer to the event. Visit www.dancinc.biz for the bios page updates). Bring your tap shoes and join us at the end for the Shim Sham! Visit the website to view all weekend activities: ten master tao dance classes and a live big band swing dance grand finale.
