Pretty Good Dance Moves Formed in Chicago, IL and now based out of Brooklyn, electro-pop duo Pretty Good Dance Moves will release their long-awaited new EP, PGDM on March 9, 2010. The duo, Jimmy Giannapoulos and Aaron Allieta, created an EP full of slinky synthesizers and seductive dance beats. The duo scoured the globe for vocalists and found voices to complement their laid-back, synth-pop sound, recruiting several important guest stars, including Chicago vocalist Angelina Lucero and singer-songwriter Heather Christian. You can hear the results on the band's single "Leave Me Alone," which features Swedish pop legend Bjorn Yttling of Peter Bjorn & John on vocals and also as co-writer. Stereogum premiered the track, calling it "a triumphant little electro-pop track that tickles hearts and synths."
Stewed Tomatoes is an all girrl punk trio that pulses with a soft groove and pounds out a hard edge. Harmonic vocals, sexy riffs, make stewed tomatoes a meal you can't miss!! Known for incredible live performances, hilarious banter and outrageous stage antics, Stewed Tomatoes is often shocking and always entertaining. As a POWER-trio they deliver a combination of gutsy, ambient guitars, riff driven bass lines and hard kickin' drums. Paired with tough and deliciously sexy vocals, this band is a total package that pleases any crowd every time. Seasoned musicians, these girls have toured Nationally, spreading TOMATO MANIA from Las Vegas to New York, extensively throughout the Midwest, and virtually every rock venue in Chicago.
Ellen Rosner & The Bubbly Creek All Stars 100% Chicago, and years in the making, Ellen Rosner & The Bubbly Creek All Stars are held together by Chuck Harling on Drums, Judy Director on keys, Joon Obie on bass, and of course Ellen Rosner on vocals/guitar, this is the best incarnation of Ellen Rosner yet. Without sounding derivative, the band successfully captures and blends the players' diverse collective influences. "It's no secret that we all came of age here in Chicago during the mid 70's to early 80's, and that comes through in our writing." Think vintage Traffic, Sly and the Family Stone, early Pretenders, maybe a little Mavis Staples or some Al Green. clean melody riding over tight, in the pocket grooves. Close your eyes, and you can hear Stax, you can hear Muscle Shoals, and you can hear a sound that is very much all Ellen Rosner & The Bubbly Creek All Stars.
